Zander Daniel, MD

Zander Daniel, MD

Dr. Alexander 'Zander' Daniel completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences prior to attending the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, FL. After graduation, he returned to Augusta, where he completed an internal medicine internship and a comprehensive residency training program in ophthalmology emphasizing cataract surgery, glaucoma management, and oculoplastic surgery at Augusta University Medical Center.

Dr. Daniel is originally from the sunshine state of Florida; however, his family has lived in Augusta since 2004 and considers it home. He is very excited about the opportunity to provide the utmost quality ophthalmic care to his community in the CSRA.

Jared Staats, OD

Jared Staats, OD

Dr. Jared Staats attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry, graduating with his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016. Following graduation, he completed a primary care residency with emphasis on disease management at the Indiana University School of Optometry Indianapolis Eye Care Clinic.

Since completing his residency, Dr. Staats has spent his career in a high-volume tertiary care clinic, specializing in cataract and glaucoma care. He has published articles in Advanced Ocular Disease and Review of Optometry, is an American Academy of Optometry fellow, is certified by the National Board of Examiners of Optometry, and is a member of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Staats lives in Augusta with his wife Megan, who is finishing her doctorate in psychology.

Stuart D. Marks, MD

Stuart D. Marks, MD

Dr. Stuart Marks is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and oculoplastics at Augusta Eye Surgery.

He received his undergraduate education at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, before graduating from Ohio State University College of Medicine. After an internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Marks completed residency training in ophthalmology at Ohio State University.

In 1987, he began private practice in Gainesville, GA, and a year later became a clinical instructor for the Emory University Department of Ophthalmology at the Atlanta VA Hospital. Dr. Marks moved with his family to Augusta, GA, in 1990, where he has been a managing partner of Augusta Eye MD since 2004 and the Medical Director of Augusta Eye Surgery, LLC, since 2008. Dr. Marks has been on Augusta Magazine’s list of “Best Doctors” since the award’s inception in 1997. He was the first ophthalmologist in Augusta to be included. Dr. Marks and his wife have two children and now live in Evans, GA.

Susan Ziegler Marks, Administrator

Susan Ziegler Marks, Administrator

Susan Ziegler Marks is the administrator of the Augusta Eye Surgery Center. Originally from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Susan is a certified ophthalmic assistant and a certified ophthalmic surgical assistant. As administrator, Susan is responsible for planning and directing the activities of the surgical center. Susan was a physical therapist for 20 years before changing careers and was the administrator of a physical therapy practice in Ohio. She has a degree in Chemistry from Emory University and a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University.

Our well trained business office and ophthalmic coding specialist, simplify your scheduling and billing experience at Augusta Eye MD.

Surgical Staff

Registered nurses, certified surgical technicians, and patient care representatives work closely with our surgeons to optimize procedure efficiency.
